DRAGONDAH CASTLE

"The door fell open, as did our mouths. There was a bedchamber on the other side and, although musty and covered in dust, it was in use. Or had been not long ago."

OTTILLEE BOTTOMLY

Dragondah Castle is a real castle, not a fairytale castle. It was built on Dragondah Island about a thousand years ago by the great King Locryn Penhaligon. (Although I'm sure he had a bit of help.) And the castle was certainly built to last, its thick walls keeping out the worst of the weather sweeping in across the sea, and its narrow windows keeping out the worst of King Locryn's enemies. (Most of the time anyway!)

It's got a courtyard and a tower and a Great Hall with a massive walk-in fire place. It's also got a very special bedchamber where King Locryn himself used to sleep. Penhaligon tradition states that all the heirs to the Cornish throne should be born in the four-poster bed in this room. Not that Finn remembers, of course!
