All About Ottillee Bottomly

HELLO! I'M OTTILLEE ROSE VIOLET BOTTOMLY...

Thanks so much for looking me up, especially as I've been having quite a time of it these past few months. (As you'll know if you've already read even one of my adventures.) I mean, talk about not knowing what's round the corner, hey? One minute I'm a London schoolgirl trying to get over the fact my dad's never coming home. The next minute I'm a Cornish heiress up to my pigtails in secret tunnels, creepy caves and forgotten castles. Lucky for me, I get loads of help from the friendly locals. Oh yes, and Mum's always there in the background providing tasty snacks and lots of helpful (!!) advice...

Hi, I'm Ottillee Bottomly and I'm 11¾ when my story starts. My mum and I live in Dragondah and, if you haven’t a clue where that is (and most people haven’t), it’s in the English county of Cornwall. But it's so small and so secret that most people drive past it without even knowing it’s there.

Of course, for most of my life, I lived with both my mum and my dad in Bumstead, north London. You probably do know where Bumstead is because who hasn’t heard of Bumstead Rovers, hey? (Twice runner-up in the FA Cup Final, hey?) My dad used to take me to the home matches whenever he could, but a couple of years ago great tragedy struck and my dad went missing in the Amazon jungle.

Not long after that, I inherited this big house 250 miles away in the southwest of England. I must admit I didn’t want to come to Cornwall at first. In fact, Mum always likes to tell everyone she had to drag me here kicking and screaming. But that’s not really true. There was no kicking or screaming, although there might have been quite a bit of sulking and dragging of feet. Well, I was leaving Dylan and Ella and Mrs Gupta and the Girl Guides behind me, wasn't I? And Dragondah didn't seem to have much to offer a girl used to the bright lights and babyccino bars of London.

But sometimes you just have to trust your mum know what's best for you, don’t you? Because it turned out moving to Dragondah was the best thing that could have happened to me...
